I’ve just enjoyed the latest episode of The Clone Wars, ‘The Lawless’.
This episode rounded off the Darth Maul story for (probably) this season. We start with a rescue attempt on Satine, which obviously fails, and she gets thrown in prison. However, it’s revealed to have been orchestrated by Maul so that she could call for help. As predicted, the senate and Jedi Council won’t send help because Mandalore is neutral, so Obi-Wan goes alone. He craftily makes his way to rescue her, only to be stopped at the last moment, where he realises who’s behind it all. Maul kills Satine in front of him, and then locks him up.
However, all is not well in the world of Maul, because someone else is gunning for him. Someone darker, and much more dangerous – Sidious. The members of Deathwatch loyal to Satine’s sister (yes, that female member is related to Satine) help Obi-Wan to get off Mandalore safely and return to the Republic. Sidious arrives, and Maul has just enough time to sense his presence before a full scale fight breaks out between Sidious and Maul/Opress. It’s a terrific scene, and Sidious shows off his immense abilities by knocking them both down, killing Savage Opress in front of Maul, then torturing Maul. He finihses by saying he’s not going to kill Maul, as he has other uses for him.
It was a great episode, with plenty of homages to the films. Overall, a great watch, and I can’t wait to see more.
Thanks for reading.
